This conceptual design of the Red Deer Civic Center is currently halted as the City attempts to secure additional funding. The new civic centre was designed to replace the existing facility in downtown Red Deer, and it is proposed the building will house a new public auditorium, city archives and council chambers.
The mechanical systems were high efficient systems designed to LEED Silver standards. The systems are to use 100% outdoor air systems with high efficient energy recovery systems. Occupancy sensors will be used in key areas to reduce air system demands, and high efficient condensing boilers have been designed in a cascading system to maximize system operations.
In addition, condensing water heaters and low flow plumbing fixtures with hands-free operation will be used to minimize facility water consumption.
